Emergency aid for the Nuba Mountains: Together against hunger
The ongoing civil war in Sudan has dramatically exacerbated living conditions in the Nuba Mountains region. The blockade of this region is causing prices for raw materials and food to explode. Many people can no longer afford the basic necessities for survival – hunger becomes an immediate threat.
A critical time began until the harvest in October
The current supply situation in the Nuba Mountains was extremely precarious. August 2024 seemed to drag on forever. The next harvest was not expected until October, but until then people were struggling to survive. The Karko region, where families urgently needed support to bridge this period, is particularly affected.
At the Foundation’s last annual meeting, Mende Nazer emphasized that the people in Karko are currently in most urgent need of help in the form of food – even more important than medical care, water or educational projects.

Our solution: Emergency aid for food suppliesIn order to support the people in the Nuba Mountains during this difficult time, our foundation is providing € 10.000 for the purchase of food. The payment was made in two phases:
- Phase 1: Transfer of € 5,000 by August 10, 2024.
- Phase 2: Transfer of a further € 5,000 by August 24, 2024
Mende worked with local supporters to ensure that the aid arrived directly. The photos show the successful implementation in the Karko region, where our efforts helped to bridge the precarious period.
