The Nuba have been subjected to unbelievable atrocities for more than 20 year. It’s hard to imagine that this conflict with over 2 million deaths has found so little attention in our media. We have the chance to help a nation to reestablish their honor, their hope and their future.
WATER & EDUCATION
Access to clean water is a basic human need and right. It’s hard for most of us to imagine that clean, safe water is not something that can be taken for granted. But, in the Nuba Mountains the war has made water scarce, unsafe and inaccessible in places.
Mende has stated “To give a child an education is essential and very important for me. It gives children hope and they will live a better life. My schooling was cut short in the Nuba Mountains so I painfully understand the value of education and how important it is for development. I believe every child deserves to be educated.”
The Annual General Meeting was held on 13 Jun 2020. It was the first meeting held virtually by video-conference. It was held on ZOOM with participants from all over the world including the U.S.A., Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. The meeting was optimistic as the board members discussed the relative calm that has come to the Nuba Mountains as a result of the new political situation. There may even be opportunity to conduct another humanitarian mission soon.
